Tomato Cream Sauce
This is a simple tomato cream sauce.
Servings: 8
Ingredients
- 2 tbsp Olive Oil
- 2 tbsp Butter
- 1 whole Medium Onion finely diced
- 1 Carrot finely diced
- 1 Celery Stalk finely diced
- 4 cloves Garlic finely diced
- 2 cans Tomato Sauce 15 oz
- Salt to taste
- Pepper to taste
- dash Sugar to taste
- 1 cup Heavy Cream
- 1/4 cup Grated Parmesan
- 1 1/2 lb Pasta
- Fresh Basil chopped
Instructions
- Heat butter and olive oil over medium heat.
- Add onions, carrots, celery, and garlic and saute for a couple minutes.
- Pour in tomato sauce and add salt, pepper, and sugar to taste.
- Stir and cook over low heat for 25 minutes, stirring occasionally.
- While sauce is cooking, cook pasta according to package directions.
- Drain pasta reserving 1 cup pasta water.
- At end of 25 minutes, remove sauce from heat and stir in cream.
- Add parmesan and check seasonings.
- Stir in pasta and chopped basil and serve immediately (thin with pasta water before adding basil if needed).
